Dogtooth

The dogtooths have been blooming
in the woods at the Beaver Pond Trail.
 They are also called trout lilies,
 maybe because of the markings on the leaves.
 The leaves cover a lot of ground,
 but there are not that many flowers.
 I wonder why...

  2. I'm not sure why there aren't many flowers. Sometimes there are lots! I think the plant has to mature a few years before it'll send up a blossom.
