False Lupines and Bumblebees

This is Thermopsis lanceolata, from the garden at the college.

A sunny flower that had the bees flying about it. Considering the shutter speed was a 250th of a second, I wonder how fast their wings were actually moving...

This last photo is looking at her, head on.

  5. Great shots Judy, I love your capture of the wings in motion. She is a real beauty.

    Last spring I caught some wing motion on a honey bee and looked up the figure. If I remember right it was 120 - 240 beats per second.
