Re your question about Kangaroo Paw, this one grows to 80 cms / 31 inches, but there are smaller varieties. I have seen it in blog pics of the US, so you might be able to get it in Canada...

The flower is so beautiful!I've never seen amaryllis a few layer like this, mostly here only one layer.
