Natural Windbreaks

On the drive to North Gower, we were wondering why so many fields had half a dozen rows of corn left standing parallel to the road.

Then we reached a point where the wind had blown the snow across the fields, and discovered the corn stalks were a natural windbreak.

Husband rolled his eyes that I wanted to photograph the snow,

but I had never seen anything like this before.

Can you imagine this much snow blowing across the roads during a storm?
