The temperature was well below freezing this morning, so the ice bubbles were trapped in the ice. You can also see the scratches where the dogs were moving too quickly.

This is an amazing shot. I don't think I've ever seen something quite like that either in nature or a photo. Showed it to my uncle who is a semi-professional photographer and he loved it. Great catch.
