Tansy

Another yellow flower found in waste land is tansy.

I think it used to be used as a dye plant.

I like it for the shape and the colour.

Once you get very close to the flower heads, the individual blossoms are interesting.

  1. Great pics of what many here consider an invasive weed.

PS: Emily was totally cool with the slug. As a marine biologist her work with various invertebrates has pretty well eliminated the freak-out factor. Except with spiders.

  2. I love the different perspectives on this wildflower/weed. (I never know the difference.) I think it is poison to cattle, so it would definitely be a weed out west I think! But it is beautiful -- I especially like the last picture.

  3. I agree, the shape and the color is the best part.

  4. I used to grow Tansy. I loved it with its strong growth and yellow flowers.
when I changed my herb garden I did not include it as it tended to take over the garden beds. I still like it, I could plant it now somewhere it is free to wander. Your photos are splendid.

  8. Beautiful shots of the tansy! It is considered an invasive species here, and usually gets pulled up before it goes to flower.
