Amaranth is grown as a food crop in some areas. The seeds are tiny, and each plant produces millions of them.
There are colours other than red, but I have not seen any this summer, but there are the two types of red.
The drooping blossoms are also called love lies bleeding.
I've not eaten the grain... yet... But have always love the rich, red-pink flowers! :o) Happy Weekend, Judy ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. You do get around. We're going to live in Perth in September. Hopefully, a whole new batch of flora and fauna to photograph, although it's the similar type of ecosystem!

I don't think I've ever seen one of these - they're quite beautiful!
