There were two varieties of hen and chicks. This one is named Sempervivum braunii,
and the flowers were only in bud. The smaller variety was not labeled,
but was in full bloom.
You can get an idea of the size of it, by comparing the ant and the dime with the plant.
I love this plant! I remember when we had a drought years ago in Nepean they survived quite nicely. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteI just bought some of these for myself and my Mom bought me more.
ReplyDeleteI love how they grow. I'm hoping they do well around my pond.
Hope you're doing well.
Love the estate peony below - gorgeous shot.
Your Hen and Chicks are so cool, and in bloom. I understand that they do not bloom until well established and several years old. How lucky for you.

These are beautiful pictures of hen and chicks. We have several varieties of sempervivum in our yard and they are fascinating plants.
ReplyDeleteThey are so tiny! The ones we have are much larger, though I don't remember ever seeing them flower.
