Milkweed

If you open the milkweed pods before they are ready, the seeds are still white, and tightly packed.

When the seeds are fully ready, they are brown, and the fluff dries,

enabling them to float on the breeze to a home for next summer.

  1. When I was growing up my Dad would send my brother and I out to pull the milkweed from the corn. I quickly developed a dislike for milkweed, but I do like your pictures of the seed.

  2. I've always loved milkweed. Around here it attracts the monarch butterflies and they often make their chrysalis on them.

  3. Later when they are ripe, I plan to collect some seeds and grow a few in my gravel garden.

  4. I like the sequence. The light in the fluff at the end is neat
