Mossy Log
The forest has started breaking down this log.
It is covered with moss, and has leaves piled to the lee of it.
I forget what moss has instead of flowers, but I love the tiny details of them. The pine needles are only 2 inches long.
Black Eyed Susans
One frosty morning, I noticed the seedheads of some black eyed susans.
I had never noticed the details before,
the architecture of the plant and the frost!

The Moon
And I took more photos of the moon, with trees,
and cattails,
with milkweed,
and with grass.

Skywatch Friday
I have been organizing photos, and found this series from early November -
the moon was nearing the western horizon,
and the geese were looking for a nice field for the day's business.

Reflections and Ice
Some mornings, there is a skin of ice on the water, and the trees are reflected in both the water and the ice.
Watery Wednesday
Standing by the three branches that make a dam on this small stream,
I notice the difference between the water downstream,
and the ice upstream.

Frost on the Fallen Leaves
The thyme leaves are still green,
although all the leaves
have fallen off the trees now.
The frost and the shadows still animate them!
Lilacs
One sprout of my white lilac is confused, and is putting out fresh leaves!

Red Currants
Another surprise last week!
Red currants still on the bushes, spreading over into the park!
I am fascinated by the shadows they cast
on the fence!
Milkweed
Not all of the milkweed seeds have flown away yet.
Some are clinging to the pods.

Chrysanthemums
It is amazing what you can find as you walk around the suburbs!
This chrysanthemum was still blooming last week!
After a month and more of frosty nights!

Pine
Frost coated the pine needles and cones early in the morning.
But later in the day,
the frost was gone.

Skywatch Friday
Usually the fog does not last this far into our walks,
so I was able to photograph new trees with fog enveloping them.
