Japanese Maple

A Japanese maple planted beside decorative grass
makes for an interesting combination of shapes and colours.

Unknown Tree with Seeds

Another unknown tree,
but with large clusters of seed parachutes.
I love the way the gleam gold in the setting sun.

Skywatch Friday

This tree was in the park, 8 or 9 feet tall.
The leaves look a little like apple leaves,
but the fruits stick up in the air.

P.S. Thank you to Adrienne, for identifying this as a Korean dogwood!

Coleus

Mom has planters on the front verandah
and I love the way the coleus leaves catch
 the afternoon sun.

Dahlia

Mom only has the one dahlia any more,
but it is a good hiding place for earwigs...

Acorns

I gathered some acorns, before the chipmunks and squirrels could get to them.
I used some of Dad's stuff as a background.

This old ashtray usually holds nuts and bolts. I have no idea what this solid chunk of steel is for - an anvil?

And some Irish moss.

Rose of Sharon

I have found out why petals look like this after a rain - there are normally air pockets in the petals, which become waterlogged, and make the petals translucent like this.

Watery Wednesday

These are all reflections of a concrete lamppost, a little downstream from a small, overflowing dam.
The turbulence in the water did all the work.

Hosta Blossoms

On Monday, Woodstock received more than 2 inches of rain
so the flowers were all wet
 Tuesday morning.

Bridge Over Cedar Creek

This bridge in the park
has been there longer than I can remember.

Reflections on the Skootamatta River

There was a small path leading to the
 Skootamatta River,
 and the light was perfect
 for capturing these reflections.

Birds on a Wire

The starlings were gathering before their migration.

Today's Flowers

The goldenrod is still blooming
 in southern Ontario.

Geese

The geese in the park are used to being fed,
so they let me get closer than the geese here at home.
