Annie

The ice was strong enough to hold Annie's weight for a short time, before it broke.

Watery Wednesday

The river has a skin of ice on it,
and the geese have moved to the pond
where the ice reflects the dawn light.

Snowstorm

The first snowstorm during the day.
The flowering crabapple tree is about ten feet away, and the evergreen about 70 feet.

Ice and Leaves

Red osier is a member of the dogwood family,
and is very common here, as the seeds are spread by the birds.

Today's Flowers

I'm still telling you about the small ice storm. Here is the goldenrod, during the five minutes of sunlight on the morning walk.

Bur Cucumber

The afternoon sun highlights the inside of a bur cucumber,
and the lacy framework that is left when the protective layers have disintegrated.

Dandelions

There are still dandelions blooming in the grass.

Ice on the Lilacs

The precipitation started as rain, but became ice
before stopping a little while, and then turning into snow.
That means all the plants have a thin casing of ice,
even the lilacs. The longest icicles I found were on a leaf.
You should have heard the ice chiming as the branches moved in the gentle wind!

Dawn Geese

Yesterday, the ice crowded the geese to the far side of the river, and today, they moved to the pond, rather than fight the river ice.

Macro Flowers Saturday

The blossoms on my miniature rose bush are hanging on, despite all the frosts we have had.

Clouds

I love the way the sunlight catches the edges of the clouds.

Hyacinth

Last spring, I bought some potted hyacinths and daffodils. When I went to plant them outside last month, I found one of the hyacinths had started to put up leaves. Now it is blooming!

Skywatch Friday

The moon had not set
 when the sun rose.

Coming in for a Landing

These geese were coming in for a landing on the river.

Reflections in a Puddle

The wind was riffling the surface of this puddle, breaking up the reflections of the trees and the clouds.

Virgin's Bower

The seeds of the virgin's bower, with the sun behind me.
Not as magical as the photos looking into the sun, but still lovely.

Geese on the River

Yesterday the sun came out about noon, so we took a long walk near the river.

Watery Wednesday

The pond is starting to freeze over, so the reflections are cast in a mixture of ice and water.
